Change does not come easily. After practicing in physical therapy for 17 years, I have seen many devices come and go, and admittedly have had much skepticism about new modalities and their claims. ScenarPT was no different for me.
I entered the training seminar with many questions of efficacy, as formal research is not plentiful. But, I soon observed excitement from not only the instructor, but from other clinicians and more importantly from patients themselves that reduced my doubts. After witnessing a few actual treatment sessions, I walked away from the seminar with a resurgence of hope for more effective treatment, new treatment plans and new ideas to try.
Immediate potential was noticed with its ease of use, once familiar with the settings and modes of operation. It is unique in its mobility as a hand held device without restrictions of a cord or electrodes, which has allowed this modality and motion to be combined. It is also novel in its ability to treat over metal implantation and hair. For contoured areas of the body, adapters are available. I would not have expected these additions to be necessary, but do use them quite often and recommend their purchase.
After three months of integrating ScenarPT into my practice, it has truly changed my ability to treat pain and a welcomed adjunct to my current repertoire. There have been amazing changes with some patients that leave me wondering, what just happened. For my patients, they have quickly changed their question from “does it work?” to “how long does it last?”
I will caution that it does not help everyone, but when it does, there is a significant change. Although these numbers are well shy of proper scientific analysis, I estimate that 70% of patients have described a benefit to their pain the first session, on average 70% of relief.
I am very happy with our decision to try the ScenarPT device. Each day I am reminded of its benefits, directly from my patients or from the fact that they have recommended this treatment to their friends and family.
